Foundational Beliefs

Blueprint HOPE is guided by a set of foundational beliefs that shape how the work is approached and how we might work with one another.

They provide a starting point while leaving room for different experiences, perspectives, and ways of understanding.

I'm Brenda Jean Bullis, founder of Blueprint HOPE—just call me Brenda.

These beliefs reflect what has guided me in developing the work thus far—not as a set of rules or answers everyone needs to share, but as a foundation from which we can continue exploring together.

Source as the Origin of Life and Meaning

Blueprint HOPE uses the word Source to refer to the origin of life and the intelligence that connects it.

Rather than using tradition-specific names such as God or Allah, Blueprint HOPE uses Source to offer a common reference that does not require belief, agreement, or institutional framing.

This creates space for direct relationship with what gives rise to life and meaning, while honoring the many ways people already understand and relate to it.

Within Blueprint HOPE, Source is inclusive language. People may understand Source in different ways through their own spiritual, cultural, personal, or lived experience.

Curiosity Opens the Way

Curiosity keeps us open to what we don't yet know.

Questions, observation, wonder, and lived experience can reveal patterns, connections, and possibilities we might miss when we assume we already have the answers.

Sometimes the most important discoveries begin by observing before acting, assuming, or concluding.

Remembrance is Natural

We each carry wisdom, strengths, and a sense of who we are beneath everything we've learned, experienced, and carried along the way.

Sometimes life can distance us from that knowing.

Remembering is the process of reconnecting with what has remained within us—our wisdom, inner orientation, and original coherence.

Remembrance is what begins to unfold as that recognition becomes lived and embodied.

It isn't about becoming someone new. It is about coming back into relationship with something that was already there.

Love is a Unifying Force

Love shapes how we relate to one another, to animals and nature, and to the larger living world we share.

Within Blueprint HOPE, love isn't simply an idea or a feeling. It becomes visible through respect, compassion, cooperation, shared responsibility, and how we treat one another and the life around us.

Love asks us to consider not only what serves us, but what supports the well-being of the whole.

Relationship Restores Coherence

Healthy relationships help us reconnect—with ourselves, one another, the Earth, and what gives our lives meaning.

Those relationships grow through listening, participation, trust, authenticity, and mutual respect.

Relationship also helps us see beyond the limits of our own perspective.

None of us sees the whole picture.

Each of us carries different experiences, wisdom, perspectives, and pieces of understanding.

When those pieces can come into relationship with one another—without requiring them to become the same—we can begin to see more of the whole.

Within Blueprint HOPE, coherence refers to:

• alignment between inner knowing and outward action

• consistency between values and behavior

• relationships and collaboration that reduce friction rather than creating it

• systems that support the people and purposes they are meant to serve

Coherence doesn't require sameness.

It allows different pieces to remain distinct while finding ways to work together as part of a larger whole.

Coherence feels steady rather than forceful. It allows movement and progress without continually working against ourselves, one another, or the systems around us.

Blueprint HOPE prioritizes coherence because it helps create the conditions in which people, relationships, and systems can thrive together.

Thrival Supports All Life

Blueprint HOPE looks beyond survival toward thrival—

creating conditions where people, communities, animals, and the natural world can thrive together.

Survival matters. Sometimes survival is the first and most important task.

But survival doesn't have to be the end of the story.

Thrival asks what becomes possible when people have the safety, stability, connection, resources, and freedom needed to move beyond survival toward restoration, growth, creativity, contribution, and full participation in life.

It also asks us to think beyond ourselves.

How do we create conditions where one person's well-being doesn't depend on another person's suffering—or where human progress comes at the expense of animals, communities, or the Earth?

Within Blueprint HOPE, thrival means building with the well-being of the whole in mind.

Because ultimately, our well-being is connected.

Authenticity Sustains Integrity

Authenticity means being honest about what we know, what we don't know, and what we're still learning along the way.

It also means being real about who we are, what we experience, what matters to us, and what we bring to the table—without feeling that we have to reshape ourselves to fit someone else's expectations.

Authenticity doesn't require certainty.

We can ask questions.

We can explore ideas.

We can say I don't know.

We can make room for reflection, course correction, and changing our minds as new perspectives, experiences, and understanding emerge.

Integrity grows when what we say, what we value, and how we act remain aligned with one another.

Within Blueprint HOPE, authenticity and integrity aren't about getting everything right.

They're about being real enough to notice when something no longer aligns—and willing enough to adjust when it doesn't.

Stewardship Precedes Structure

People, relationships, and purpose come before organizational structures.

Structure is important, but it should serve the work—not determine what the work is allowed to become.

Blueprint HOPE is still taking shape, and I don't believe its future structure needs to be decided before we understand what the work actually requires.

The structure should grow in response to real people, relationships, needs, responsibilities, and possibilities as they emerge.

Stewardship begins with taking responsibility for what has been entrusted to us—our work, our relationships, our resources, and the impact of the choices we make.

As Blueprint HOPE grows beyond me, stewardship will grow with it.

The goal isn't structure for the sake of structure. It's creating enough structure to support what is actually taking shape—without allowing the structure to become more important than what it was created to serve.

Alignment Guides Timing

Not everything needs to happen at once.

There is a time for imagining, a time for exploring, a time for building, and a time for bringing others in.

Alignment means paying attention to what is actually ready to take shape rather than forcing something simply because we think it should happen now.

That doesn't mean waiting passively.

It means continuing to observe, prepare, learn, and take the steps that are available while remaining open to new information and changing conditions.

Sometimes the next step is clear.

Sometimes it emerges only after we've taken the one in front of us.

Within Blueprint HOPE, timing isn't about rushing to grow—or holding something back out of fear.

It's about moving when the pieces, conditions, and next step begin to align.

Coherence is Shared

None of us sees the whole picture.

Each of us brings different experiences, wisdom, perspectives, strengths, and pieces of understanding.

One person may carry a piece another person needs.

Another may carry a piece that connects things we hadn't realized were related.

And sometimes, one piece may be what helps the larger picture come into view.

Shared coherence doesn't mean everyone thinks alike, agrees on everything, or approaches a problem in the same way.

It means creating enough trust, openness, and relationship for different pieces to exist together—and for differences to become something we can work with rather than something that automatically divides us.

What each of us brings affects the whole.

When people act with integrity, communicate openly, remain curious, and work through differences together, we can see more, understand more, and create possibilities that none of us could reach alone.

The whole becomes stronger not because the pieces become the same, but because they learn how to work together.

The Work is People-Powered

Blueprint HOPE isn't people-powered yet in the way I hope it will someday become.

Everything developed thus far has been built and stewarded by me.

But Blueprint HOPE was never envisioned as something one person would—or could—carry alone.

The larger vision depends on people finding one another and discovering what becomes possible when we begin connecting the pieces we each carry.

Eventually, people may bring lived experience, wisdom, professional expertise, skills, creativity, resources, connections, questions, ideas, or simply a willingness to participate.

Not everyone will contribute in the same way.

Not everyone needs to.

People-powered means creating conditions where people can participate from what they genuinely have to offer—not simply filling predetermined roles in a structure someone else has already designed.

Right now, the first step is much simpler:

helping more people discover Blueprint HOPE and creating enough support for the work to continue developing.

Other forms of participation can emerge as the work is ready for them.

What Blueprint HOPE ultimately becomes won't be determined by me alone.

It will be shaped by what we learn, what emerges, and eventually, by the people who choose to help bring it to life.
